As part of the commemoration of the 15th anniversary of the Great East Japan Earthquake on 11 March 2026, The Japan Foundation, Kuala Lumpur presents an aolo exhibition of photographs by Malaysian photographer Mingyang Chai at The Godown Arts Centre in the heart of Kuala Lumpur. The photographs document the nearly 400-kilometre seawall built across Japan’s Tōhoku region as coastal defence against future tsunamis. The exhibition has been well received, raising awareness of the subject while sparking curiosity and meaningful conversations among visitors.
